Tomas Nordin new sales director
Tomas Nordin new sales director Extena is strengthening its organization with Tomas Nordin as the new sales director. Tomas, who has held several leading roles in the plastics industry over the last 20 years, is now looking forward to being a part of Extena’s development. “I know the market well and have always been impressed with the high product quality offered by Extena. The company has a modern machine park, efficient production and a pride in its staff, which has led to it becoming the market leader in polyethylene pressure pipes. My goal is to help Extena continue to develop these strengths and, in the long run, be able to gain even greater market share, both in standard pipes and special pipes. Together with the parent company, egeplast, we have the perfect conditions for growth, particularly in the field of special pipes, where we offer multilayer pipes such as pipes with a high strength sheath as well as permeation resistant pipe systems,” says Tomas Nordin. Peter Falk, Extena’s CEO, is also looking forward to the future with Tomas as the company’s new sales director. “It is with great pleasure that I welcome Tomas to Extena and to this strategically important role. Extena has had fantastic development in recent years and with Tomas on board we can now start the next phase. It will mean an increased marketing effort, but it will also enable us to intensify our efforts to further increase production capacity at the Norsjö factory,” he says. egeplast is now the 100‐percent owner of Extena
egeplast is now the 100‐percent owner of Extena. Following its acquisition of a 75‐percent share in Extena in March 2020, egeplast is now the 100 percent owner of Extena AB. The cooperation with egeplast has been first‐class from day one, and during our period of co‐ownership we have seen the potential of the business model. For Extena to be fully supported by, and hence fully owned by, an innovative pipe system manufacturer like egeplast will provide the best conditions for the next growth phase. “Extena being a 100‐percent part of the egeplast Group allows for easier access to internal synergies and for a closer exchange between the companies,” says Dr. Ansgar Strumann, Shareholder and Managing Director of egeplast. In the Nordic markets, Extena will continue to use the established “Extena” brand complemented by “part of egeplast Group” to indicate that these two well‐established brands have joined forces, which the market thus can expect to be reflected in their range of products and services. Extena launches Pressure Pipe SLM® DCS – with continuous monitoring and a high strength protective sheath
Damage to water pipes is a problem for most pipeline owners and involves high repair costs. This type of damage also poses problems for individuals or companies who may lose their access to clean water. And there are additional costs caused by the loss of drinking water, which can increase significantly over time. In order to quickly locate damage to a critical pipeline at an early stage and thereby minimise troubleshooting time, Extena is now launching Pressure Pipe SLM® DCS. This pipe gives you full control and automatically alerts you to any damage to a pipeline, with up to one metre accuracy. You can choose between continuous online damage control or performing a control at predetermined intervals. PE 100 RC, conductive strips and a high strength sheath Pressure Pipe SLM® DCS from Extena consists of a standard pipe made of PE100 RC equipped with conductive strips for the rapid detection of possible leaks. The pipe also has a high strength sheath for extra protection. This sheath has a thickness of 1–5 mm depending on pipe dimension. Compared to traditional PE material, the raw material PE 100 RC has about 17 times higher requirements for slow crack growth. A monitoring device connected to the pipe issues an alarm even in the event of very minor pipe damage. The messages are then sent directly to the control centre or a mobile phone. The system can automatically shut down and reconnect any connected pump systems, thereby preventing water loss at an early stage. Benefits and features Permanent or on-demand monitoring of a pipe system Increased pipeline safety thanks to continuous status updates Avoid water loss including consequential damage Automated operations such as shutting off a stretch of pipeline Fast detection and location of damage with 1 metre accuracy Extra protection provided by a high strength 1–5 mm sheath Check that no damage has occurred during installation
